Double-Down on ‘Empire’ Season 2 With 20 Minutes of Preview Footage

Not fit to stay contained by its original twelve-episode order, FOX’s Empire will only grow bigger in Season 2, upping the ante to a full 18 hours, but why stop there? Even the previews have started their own Empire, as FOX devotes a full 20 minutes to previewing the Lyons’ second run.

As we grow closer to the Season 2 premiere, FOX has released an expansive new Empire featurette looking back over the first season with  cast and crew, as well previewing the next round of drama to come from the hip-hop-driven series. There’s new footage, guest stars, and even a look at the recent TCA press tour panel to preview the FOX juggernaut’s return.

In addition to its September 23 premiere, Empire Season 2 will expand to 18 episodes, up from the first run’s 12, and structured in two halves with a major cliffhanger between. Thus far, Season 2 guest stars include Mariah Carey, Adam Busch, Andre Royo, Kelly Rowland, Marisa Tomei, Adam Rodriguez, Chris Rock, Lenny Kravitz and Alicia Keys, while hip-hop artist Ne-Yo will join Timbaland in writing music for Season 2.
