Statik Selektah wrangled a killer posse for his old school new song "The Imperial." Action Bronson ("the rap Scott Disick"), Royce Da 5'9", and Black Thought trade freewheeling, hook-less verses over a warm, soulful beat full of jazzy horn samples and choral vocals. It's the type of song meant to be played through the hiss-and-crackle of a vinyl in a room that's slowly filling up with smoke. But despite the analog feel, it never becomes a lazy rehash of early '90s boom-bap.

"The Imperial" is off Statik's forthcoming album What Goes Around, and it is basically the perfect palate-cleanser for Puff Daddy's "We Dem Boyz" remix.
