Jersey numbers mean a lot to professional athletes. Thousands—sometimes tens of thousands—of dollars exchange hands to keep lucky digits when star players change teams. When Darrelle Revis went from the Jets to the Bucs last summer, he paid Mark Barron $50,000 for his No. 24.

But would you let a teammate sleep with your girl to get a jersey number off him?

According to former Chargers and Patriots safety Rodney Harrison, such an indecent proposal was once laid out for an ex-teammate. Here's what Harrison told Pro Football Talk:

“[A] guy offered another guy $50,000 for his number and the guy said, ‘No way, I need my number,’” Harrison recently told Pro Football Talk on NBCSN.  “It just shows you how superstitious these guys are and how connected they are to their number.  But at the same time, then the next thing was probably the craziest thing, money, people offer that all the time, but the guy said, ‘Hey man, I’ll allow you to sleep with my girlfriend.’  Once he said that, I lost my mind. I said no way can it be that serious. I said, ‘Obviously you don’t love your girlfriend that much.’”

More importantly, how does the player's girlfriend feel about this situation? How's that one playing on the homefront? "I got great news, bae! I'm gonna wear 55 this season! Only one thing, though..."
