Ad-Rock has been heavy into the remix game ever since the tragic demise of Beastie Boys following the passing of Adam "MCA" Yauch. For his latest effort, the NYC legend has taken on "Canal," a gritty, clattering cut from rising New York rap crew Ratking, off their debut album So It Goes.

For the reworked version, Ad-Rock slows things down, giving the track some of that off-kilter bounce similar to the instrumentals off Ill Communication. He takes a warped and weathered mix of xylophones, horns, drum machine farts, and squiggly synths, and throws it into a B-Boy bouillabaisse like the ones he used to come up with alongside MCA and Mike D.
