Hope Solo is something else, yo. She is the best goalkeeper in women's soccer, and yet she is also one of the most controversial. She is equal parts scary, talented and sexy. And today, she is celebrating her 33rd birthday.

A bona fide superstar in the soccer world, it's been a bumpy ride for Solo — she was charged on domestic violence earlier this year, she's failed at least one drug test in the past, and she once got into a heated beef with American women's soccer icon Brandi Chastain.

But a birthday is a birthday, and damn if we're not going to celebrate. Hope is already living it up for the big 3-3, via Twitter:

The 2015 Women's World Cup is coming, and there's still no confirmation that Solo will be in goal. Good thing she looks just as beautiful off the pitch as on it.

When she appeared in ESPN The Magazine's Body Issue, she said she doesn't consider herself a "sex symbol." We'd dispute that claim.
