Future and Nicki Minaj’s “Rock Star” Hits the Web
During a March listening session for his album Honest, Future encouraged attendees to record and upload snippets of the album's scrapped Nicki Minaj collab, "Rock Star." On the DJ Clue-produced track, Future interpolates the melody from George Michael's "Careless Whisper," but Michael's camp never cleared the sample, so the song got the chop.
Fortunately, the internet exists, so we can hear it in full now. Future starts off singing, "All my ice and all my trees / All my bitches in love with me / Rock star life, the life we lead / Surrounded by a bunch of stars," but this is no soft Future joint, as he immediately goes HAM after the hook. Then Minaj pounces onto the beat, and in the process continues her gender-neutral domination by pointing out, "If I was a nigga, I'd be gettin' my dick sucked."
