Holy Shit, Flying Lotus’ Album Sampler Is Genius

Flying Lotus, a/k/a Stephen Ellison a/k/a Captain Murphy, is set to drop his new album You're Dead on his birthday, October 7, via Warp Records. And the producer savant slash jazz geek is showing off his wares with a gorgeously macabre and mind-bending animated video.

Featuring original artwork by Shintaro Kago and animated by Strangeloop, the two-minute clip is a trippy journey into pulsing wormholes, past flayed corpses and mounded naked bodies, as Ellison's heady beats stagger and blare.

"The album isn't about the end,it's really the beginning..." FlyLo says. The album is also described as a "shamanic pilgrimage into the psychedelic unknown of the infinite afterlife."

The track list for You're Dead was previously announced. Guests include Herbie Hancock, Kendrick Lamar, Captain Murphy, Snoop Dogg, Angel Deradoorian, Thundercat, and Niki Randa. Flying Lotus is currently on tour until November.
