‘Spectre’ TV Spot: James Bond Meets Christoph Waltz and His Shadowy Organization
Is Christoph Waltz playing classic Bond villain Blofeld? Director Sam Mendes has been pretty coy about it, but all signs seem to indicate “yes.” The latest TV spot for Spectre introduces Daniel Craig’s James Bond to the shadowy organization led by Waltz’s enigmatic villain, and throws in a few extra explosions and chase sequences for good measure.
The new spot doesn’t feature much in the way of new footage, but it does highlight Bond’s discovery — aided by Lea Seydoux’s Madeleine Swann — of the shady organization headed by Waltz, who may or may not be (but probably totally is) Blofeld. Waltz has outright denied it, but when recently asked directly about the involvement of the classic villain, Mendes had this to say:
The B-word! We talk about it all the time. It’s the great figure from the Bond vault, as it were. There was this big spectre hanging over the movie and the franchise, which is Blofeld, and what happened to the supervillain. That’s all I’m going to say […] There’s some big stuff the movie is moving towards.
In Spectre, Bond receives a secret message from the past, which takes him to Mexico City and on to Rome, where he discovers a mysterious organization known as SPECTRE. Craig is joined by returning cast members Ben Whishaw, Ralph Fiennes and Naomie Harris, along with new Bond ladies Lea Seydoux, Monica Bellucci and Stephanie Sigman.
Spectre hits theaters on November 6.
