‘Furious 8’ Eyes Filming Locations in Cuba, Russia and Iceland
We don’t know much about Furious 8 — Straight Outta Compton’s F. Gary Gray is directing and Vin Diesel is obviously returning, and…okay, a director and Vin Diesel is all you really need to put a movie together, even if Diesel has to play every role himself (and he would, too). Today brings a quick update on the upcoming sequel, as Gray is reportedly eyeing a few international filming locations, aka a few places that will look pretty cool when Diesel and the Furious crew race and jump and explode their cars all over the landscape.
Fast and Furious has been everywhere from Miami to the streets of Tokyo and, most recently, Dubai, and the franchise’s world tour continues as THR reports that Furious 8 is requesting permission to shoot a sequence in Cuba, making it the first domestic studio film to shoot in the country since the 1960s.
Filming will additionally take place in New York and Georgia, while Universal is also considering shooting portions of the film in Russia and Iceland. Does this mean Bjork will have a cameo? We can only hope.
Along with Diesel, stars Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Kurt Russell, Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris, Jordana Brewster, Elsa Pataky and Lucas Black are all expected to return for the eighth installment in the franchise, which will reportedly kick off a new trilogy to close out the series.
Furious 8 hits theaters on April 14, 2017.
