Rory McIlroy Wins British Open, His Dad Wins $171,000 Bet

The McIlroy family is better than yours. Rory McIlroy is 25 years old. He just won his third major championship over the weekend, taking home the British Open by leading from wire to wire. He rebounded from calling off his wedding to dating a smoking hot Irish model.

Meanwhile, his pops cashed in on a 500-to-1 bet from 2004 that his son would win the Claret Jug within ten years, netting him $171,000. British-based online betting house Ladbrokes tweeted this out after Rory's victory:

Not surprisingly, the folks at Ladbrokes were right about the party at the McIlroy crib, too. Because when you're 25 years old and about that life, you can pour Jäger into one of sports' most legendary trophies and no one can call you a giant tool. Right?
