The new Black Mass trailer pulls the focus back from Johnny Depp’s performance as the notorious gangster Whitey Bulger, showcasing an ensemble of actors that has to be seen to be believed. And like any movie set in Boston, each and every actor wield their accents like bricks. This isn’t a Boston movie – it’s a Baahstin movie and everyone in the cast is seemingly trying to one-up the others when it comes to dropping their R’s.

The hard facts: LeBron James and his SpringHill Entertainment production company have inked a deal with Warner Bros. that will see the NBA superstar collaborating with the studio on “TV, film and original digital content.” The speculation: Space Jam 2 is nigh and there is nothing you can do to stop it.

You can tell when a film has really struck a cultural nerve when the fan art and video mash-ups start arriving. Mad Max: Fury Road did decent business at the box office, but it’s making its real impact among the fervent fans it has inspired. Seriously, has there been an artist who has watched the film not immediately sketched Furiosa? Anyway, the latest crazy example of “excited fan with waaay too much time on his/her hands” is this video, which tweaks Fury Road so it’s actually a Mario Kart movie. Really.

Mad Max: Fury Road takes place in a world so full of detail and imagination that it shouldn’t come as a surprise to learn that director George Miller has a backstory for just about everything on screen. In the finished film, everything feels like it has a history. Every corner of every frame is alive. Rather than confine this information to his imagination, Miller has put it in a comic book.

When you settle in to watch a movie like Avengers: Age of Ultron, you know you’re going to watch some CGI. You know those armies of killer robots only exist on a computer’s hard drive and you know that the Hulk left that bodybuilder with green body paint back in the ‘70s. And yet it would take an awfully jaded moviegoer to not admire these creations on a purely technical level. As the video above showcases, the computer generated effects in Marvel’s latest movie always look great ... but they especially look great when you start to see the CGI in the scenes that you didn’t think had any CGI.

Nothing will turn the head of a film fan faster than news about a new Quentin Tarantino movie, so brace yourself for a little whiplash: our first look at The Hateful Eight has arrived and it showcases Kurt Russell, Samuel L. Jackson and Jennifer Jason Leigh in all of their weathered, western glory. It also showcases Russell and Jackson’s spectacular facial hair, both of which seem to be battling for dominance (Russell has the edge if you ask us).

Avengers: Age of Ultron is the eleventh film in Marvel Studios’ ongoing quest to dominate your disposable income for the rest of your moviegoing life, the biggest, loudest and most expensive chapter yet in what is quickly becoming a triumph of Hollywood marketing and corporate one-upmanship. But it is also, somehow, totally, the work of writer/director Joss Whedon, whose clear voice, honed over decades spent working in film and television, rings through all of the noise. While The Avengers was directed by Whedon, his messier, crazier sequel is truly, at its heart, a Joss Whedon Film.

It may not have a number in its title, but Mad Max: Fury Road is the fourth film in a series stretching back to 1979. And while original star Mel Gibson has been replaced by Tom Hardy, director George Miller is present and accounted for, still wrecking cars in the post-apocalypse for your amusement. The newest trailer for the Fury Road, labeled the “legacy trailer,” uses footage from the past films build up to the newest entry to remind potential viewers this isn’t just another action franchise. This is Mad freaking Max.

The new Straight Outta Compton trailer is here and it doesn’t look like what you’d expect. If you went back in time a few decades and told the members of highly controversial hip hop group N.W.A. that they would one day be the subject of a glossy, mainstream biopic, they would probably wouldn’t believe you. But here we are: the “world’s most dangerous group” has its own Hollywood movie now.

When Paul Walker tragically passed away midway through the production of Furious 7, Universal and director James Wan faced a difficult task. Do they scuttle the film or charge ahead, using rewrites and body doubles to finish Walker’s performance? They ultimately went with the latter option but refused to go into any details. Now, a new report confirms that a digitally recreated Walker appears in the film and that he was brought to life by the same company that made Gollum in The Lord of the Rings and Caesar in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
