Titans rookie quarterback Zach Mettenberger got a rude welcoming to his new professional home over the weekend. Mettenberger hit downtown Nashville for a night out, only to get sucker-punched in the face my a couple of dicks who thought it would be funny to yell "Roll Tide!" and then punch the former LSU QB in the face. Alabama has owned LSU in their huge rivalry recently, so not sure what the impetus for the surprise smack was, other than the general asshole-ness of Bama fans.

Mettenberger, a sixth-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, was hanging out at "Loser's," a bar in NashVegas, when he got jumped by a couple of bros, who then tried to flee the scene. They're probably lucky Mettenberger didn't have time to fight back, considering he's got a cannon for a right arm.

Steve Ford, owner of Loser's Most Wanted Bar & Grill on Division Street, said Mettenberger did nothing to provoke another bar patron, but the 6-foot-5, 224-pound quarterback ended up getting punched in the face. He did not require medical attention.

"Here's the truth: The guy said something about 'Roll Tide!' to Zach, and Zach turned around and said 'Good luck with that,' " Ford said on Monday. "And the guy's buddy then sucker-punched Zach.

"I promise you that Mettenberger did not throw a punch. He didn't do anything. The guy sucker-punched him in the eye, that's the bottom line, and the guy that punched him started running out the door. My door guys had to chase him down."

The Titans declined comment on Monday.

NFL players always seem to attract dudes with massive beer muscles. Sadly, this kind of tale isn't surprising. Actually, the fact that the bar where Mettenberger was victimized is literally called Loser's is probably the most incredible part of the story.
