We’ve all seen the iconic image of the black Olympians on the podium accepting their medals with bare feet and raised black gloved fists. Well, the gold medalist in that image is Tommie Smith and for Black History Month Puma is honoring his legacy with not one but three silhouettes.

For their Black History Month Pack Puma has included two pair of Suede and one pair of Sky II High and each one is given a vibrant makeover courtesy of the colorful patterned fabric used. The shoes Tommie removed before taking the podium were actually Puma Suede’s which makes this drop even more momentous and the collaboration does a great job of highlighting the model. Black leather or suede and grey fleece along with gum outsoles give this drop a unifying theme as well as the tongue tags displaying Tommie defiantly holding up his fist.

You’ll be able to find this Tommie Smith Puma Black History Month Pack at select retailers very soon. In the meantime check out Killer Mike’s interview with the man himself to discuss his intent in that moment and how the world reacted to it.
