Phoenix Goes Darkwave With Gesaffelstein’s “Bankrupt!” Remix

Over the past year, Phoenix has recruited a wide array of peers to remix tracks from their glistening 2013 album Bankrupt!, including reinterpretations from the likes of R. Kelly, Sleigh Bells, A-Trak, and Dinosaur Jr. To finish up the series, they've called up fellow Frenchman Gesaffelstein to rework the LP's contemplative title track — an interesting choice since he thrives in dark electro and the song already had some dour synth undertones.

But the DJ/producer, who has worked with Kanye West and A$AP Rocky, and remixed Lana Del Rey, tones down the throttling strobes of laser synths, instead offering up an atmospheric piece of darkwave perfect to soundtrack your next sex dungeon acid freakout.
