Hook Your Car Up With Parrot’s Upcoming In-Dash System, Which Runs Both iOS & Android

Apple and Google, competing kings of mobile tech, have in recent years released CarPlay and Android Auto, attempts to bring each company’s mobile ecosystem (iOS for Apple, Android for Google) into people’s automobiles, with limited success thus far. That all appears to be changing, finally, as it should. If your car even has an in-dash system, it’s probably clunky and awkward to use, making the┬ácar an obvious,┬ánatural destination for iOS and Android to colonize.

But until now, there wasn’t an available system that could run both — you got either CarPlay or Android Auto (with rare exceptions). That may not seem like a huge deal at first glance, but if you’ve got an iPhone and your lady has a Galaxy, then only one of you gets an in-dash that works with your gizmo. So tough luck if you don’t much like your partner’s playlists. With Parrot upcoming RNB6 system, that may no longer be an issue.

The Parrot RNB6 also comes with a built-in dash cam — and not just any dash cam. It’s a full HD, super HDR, wide-angle dash cam, which does wonders for navigation. And on top of that:

This system connects to your vehicle’s on-board diagnostics (OBD2) allowing you to see technical data — particularly helpful when you’ve got a “check engine” light flashing. Real-time alerts, tire pressure, parking sensors, and more are integrated – just so long as your vehicle was released after the year 1996 in the United States.

We don’t yet know when it’ll be available, or how much it costs, but Parrot is definitely a toy to keep your eye on in the next few months.
