Minor League Catcher’s Throw to Third Goes Painfully Haywire

That’s gotta hurt.

Humberto Quintero is a journeyman catcher who’s been with five teams over his major league career. He’s currently toiling with the Boston Red Sox Triple-A affiliate in Pawtucket and, if he continues to make plays like this, he may never see the Show again.

That unfortunate fella is Luke Maile of the Durham Bulls who’s found himself at the center of a play that you think you’d only see in Bull Durham.

If you get hit by a pitch you go to first. This guy should’ve gotten second because you just never see this.

As for Quintero, seeing this live on in internet infamy will probably be a punch in the gut.

Which is a whole lot better than a throw in it.
