Download MellowHype’s ‘INSA’ Mixtape

Since you were spending the long weekend suffering from an alternating brownout/low-impact hangover, it's completely understandable if you were oblivious to the fact that Odd Future's Hodgy Beats and Left Brain offered up a free mixtape, INSA (short for I Need Some Answers). The 11-track release is the duo's first release since 2012 under their MellowHype moniker (2013 if you count MellowHigh as a collab between MellowHype and Domo Genesis, and not as a separate entity), and it was worth the wait.

Hodgy is completely dialed in on the mic, as is apparent on "Nowadays" and the fact that one song is called "Bars" and it isn't about drinking establishments. For his part, Lefty put together a wide range of intricate beats — it seems like the two dudes are feeding off of and competing with each other, one from the boards and one from the mic, from song to song. For whatever reason, they seem to bring out the best in each other as MellowHype.
