The hard facts: LeBron James and his SpringHill Entertainment production company have inked a deal with Warner Bros. that will see the NBA superstar collaborating with the studio on “TV, film and original digital content.” The speculation: Space Jam 2 is nigh and there is nothing you can do to stop it.

The rumors of a Space Jam sequel starring James have been circulating for quite some time now, but they have always felt like vague threats. Stories you tell the movie fan in your life to keep him up at night. “Make sure you go see the new Zellner brothers movie or Space Jam 2 will happen!” you’d say with a cackle, watching the flesh of your cinephile friends break out in goosebumps.

But Variety is reporting that James and Warner Bros., who made the first Space Jam and hold the rights to the Looney Tunes characters, have officially formed a partnership. The timing is certainly right. James is one of the funniest parts of Trainwreck, a movie that actually lets him earn big laughs in alongside the likes of Amy Schumer and Bill Hader. He’s no master thespian, but under Judd Apatow’s direction, he certainly showcases more onscreen charisma than Michael Jordan ever did.

So LeBron James is riding higher than ever. He’s a sports superstar. He’s broken into acting and didn’t embarrass himself in the slightest. He has his own production company. With ’90s nostalgia reaching a fever pitch, and twentysomethings with blinders on convincing themselves that Space Jam is anything other than unwatchable garbage, making a movie where James teams up with Bugs Bunny and the rest of that crew to defeat extraterrestrials in a game of basketball suddenly sounds like a pretty wise business move. It will be a license to print money.

The stars are aligning. The waters boil. Animals flee off cliffs, driven to madness by an unseen force. A baby is born with a birthmark shaped suspiciously like Lola Bunny. Space Jam 2 conversations are probably happening as we speak.
