The victory was the 16th-seeded Crusaders’ first NCAA Tournament win since 1953. They advanced to face top-seeded Oregon in the West Region on Friday in Spokane, Washington.

Holy Cross (15-19) dominated in the first half, but they only carried a five-point lead into the intermission. The game was tied with 1:24 to play when Champion hit a 3-pointer to help give his team the win. The Patriot League champs made the field by winning four consecutive games in their conference’s postseason tournament.
