If you do indeed believe that Tupac Shakur was assassinated in a drive-by shooting back in 1996, then the upcoming biopic All Eyez on Me will be a fine tribute to a singularly gifted lyricist and force for positive social change. If you have opened your eyes to the Illuminati conspiracy, however, then this film represents yet another propagandistic effort to obscure the fact that Tupac, Biggie Smalls, Eazy-E, Charizma and Big L currently bide their time in a subterranean lair beneath a ranch in Billings, Montana. #WakeUp #StayWoke #IlluminatiDreamz

Whatever theory you’ve chosen to subscribe to, it should come as exciting news that the long-awaited chronicle of the G.O.A.T. rapper’s life and times has finally gotten a release date. Deadline states that on June 16, director Benny Boom (a longtime music video vet, responsible for such masterpieces as the clip for Nicki Minaj’s “Beez in the Trap”) will bring his latest feature to cinemas in the hopes that he can achieve the same breakout success as sleeper hit Straight Outta Compton did in 2015. That film’s surprise blockbuster status was a testament to the buying power of black audiences, and irrefutable proof that America sees the drama and tragedy in the rich world of hip-hop. In no small way, that account of N.W.A.’s rip-snorting rise to fame opened the gates for Boom’s newest project.

Shakur was the inarguable godfather of the West Coast rap game, igniting a long-standing feud with the East Coast set during his time at Death Row Records while selling unprecedented amounts of records for a hip-hop artist. His tragic death made a martyr out of him, the perfect subject for a biopic such as this. The film was originally slated to drop last fall, but if we can wait for Detox, we can certainly wait for this.
