Tom Brady threw four touchdown passes, including three to tight end Rob Gronkowski, and New England beat Pittsburgh, 28-21, in the opening game of the 2015 NFL season in Foxboro, Mass. on Thursday night. The victory was especially sweet for the defending Super Bowl champion Patriots (1-0), who dealt with an off-season beset by controversy and claims of “cheating” in last season’s AFC title game.

Brady completed 25 of 32 passes for 288 yards and four scores. Gronkowski caught three of the scoring tosses in his five-catch, 94-receiving yards night. Julian Edelman led New England with 11 receptions for 97 yards.

Ben Roethlisberger threw for 351 yards, a touchdown and an interception for the Steelers (0-1). Antonio Brown caught nine passes for 133 yards and a score for Pittsburgh. DeAngelo Williams carried 21 times for 127 yards.
