Enrique Hernandez hit three home runs, including a grand slam, and the Los Angeles Dodgers routed the Cubs, 11-1, in Chicago on Thursday, winning the 2017 National League Championship Series (NLCS) in five games and advancing to their first World Series since 1988.

The Dodgers will play the winner of the Yankees-Astros American League Championship Series in Game 1 of the World Series in Los Angeles on Tuesday night.

Thursday night’s Game 5 was never competitive, as Cody Bellinger’s RBI double to right in the top of the first inning gave the Dodgers a lead they’d never relinquish.

After hitting a solo homer off Cubs’ starter Jose Quintana in the second inning, Hernandez’s grand slam highlighted a five-run third that all but sealed the series win for L.A. The utility outfielder added a two-run shot off reliever Mike Montgomery in the ninth inning.

Defending world champion-Chicago’s only run came on Kris Bryant’s homer off Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw in the fourth inning. Kershaw struck out five in six innings of three-hit, one-run ball.

The press corps named Los Angeles hitters Justin Turner and Chris Taylor co-MVPs of the NLCS after the game.
