Atlanta Falcons Introduce Shockingly Low Food Prices at New Stadium
What goes up must come down is an axiom that applies to Hail Marys and prices charged for food by one NFL team.
The Atlanta Falcons are doing something you almost never hear: the team is lowering prices on the food it sells when it moves into Mercedes-Benz Stadium, which will open in 2017.

Look at that. Twenty-ounce refillable sodas for only $2, along with bottled water, hot dogs, pretzels and popcorn that will also fetch $2. A slice of pizza for $3. A beer for $5. For an NFL game, these are cheap prices. Heck, it can almost make you a Falcons fan.
Considering the lowest average price for a hot dog at an NFL stadium last season was $5.29 and the average lowest price for a soft drink was $4.79, you can see why this is something of a big deal.
A spokesman for Falcons ownership explained the move by saying, “The main driver is to re-imagine the NFL experience….We’ll be able to feed a family of four at our games for $27. That’s 60 to 70 percent cheaper than our competitors.”
The cost of the food will also remain the same, whether it’s for a Falcons game or some other event, such as a concert or Final Four, which the stadium will host in 2020.
