It's indisputable that N.W.A cemented California as one of hip-hop's epicenters and helped change the face of music forever.

Comprised of Eazy-E, Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, MC Ren and DJ Yella, the five kids from one of the most impoverished and crime-riddled neighborhoods in America would band together in 1986, with music being the common link, and put the plights of their community on wax for the world to hear.

The nation would take notice and try to silence this band of rhyming misfits, but their story and message would not go unheard, as kids of all races became enamored and intrigued by their vivid testimonials, buying their albums at a rapid pace and touting them as the world's most dangerous group.

Fame and fortune would be afforded to the members of N.W.A., but the road was far from smooth. There was disappointments and betrayal, but when the dust settled and the smoke cleared, the love was still intact and the brotherhood was stronger than ever.

N.W.A's story will be put on display for the world to see in the much-anticipated biopic, Straight Outta Compton, arriving Friday (Aug. 14). In celebration of this monumental milestone, check out 25 Historic Moments in N.W.A.'s Career.
