Indiana Pacers superstar small forward Paul George suffered one of the most gruesome injuries you'll ever witness in basketball last night during the Team USA Showcase scrimmage in Las Vegas.

George landed awkwardly on his right leg after contesting a James Harden breakaway layup, and appeared to basically shatter his bone. It was eerily reminiscent of Louisville guard Kevin Ware's horrific injury during the 2013 NCAA Tournament.

The injury was so bad, and affected the other players so much, that the game was called off in the middle of the fourth quarter. The reaction of his Team USA teammates right after it happened says it all:

George reportedly had successful surgery on Friday night, but will be hospitalized for three days and will likely miss the entire 2014-15 NBA season, according to Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports via Twitter:

It's gut-wrenching not only for the Pacers and Team USA, but for basketball in general. And you have to wonder if this will affect NBA teams' willingness to send their star players to international competition in the future.

We're not going to post the video, because we just can't bear to watch it again. But if you really, really want to see it, you can watch it by clicking here. #Pray4PG
