Diddy is secretly one of the most avant-garde members of pop's elite. Let's just get that out of the way up front. Dude was integral to The Notorious B.I.G.'s legacy, he pioneered the shiny suit era, he is responsible for one of rap-rock's watershed moments, and let's face it, Diddy-Dirty Money was ahead of its time. And while he's resorting to Rozay-like butt-rap at the moment, here he is again doing something completely unexpected: Diddy has teamed up with Israeli DJ Guy Gerber to form a dance music collab under the moniker 11 11.

"My Heart" is the first song released by 11 11, and it's a driving, slow-burning bit of modern house, with immaculate production, presumably from Diddy himself (as far as we can tell he didn't contribute vocals or anything to the actual track). On Gerber's Soundcloud page, the project is described as inverting "the recent dialogue between the worlds of hip-hop and electronic music...11 11 is not a project aimed at main-stages and masses, but outliers and after-hours." Previously, Diddy described it as "underground dance." There's a bit of rap here, but it is without a doubt a dance track, so we're curious to see if this project really does deliver and combine the two genres in a new way.

At any rate, this offering is better than much of the festival EDM and party rap that's out there.

The 11 11 album will be available for free at some point this summer.
